I recently started using the microdermabraision system from Neutrogena. My skin seems to be getting a lot more little pimples than usual. Is this normal? Is my skin going to get worse before it gets better? I know that's the case with the Clarasonic but I don't know if this should be happening with microdermabraision. help!!

No, chances are it won't get better, if you want to risk it and see if it gets better that's fine but I would just switch products if I were you.

Don't use it as often as with any abrasive, it will cause more oil to surface the skin to hydrate it from stripping of its natural oils

Your skin could also be purging.

That's what I was thinking. I think maybe striping the layers of skin is causing stuff that's been trapped underneath the dead skin is causing everything to come up. the pimples that I'm getting aren't like the ones I usually get. they are a lot smaller and harder than the type of acne I suffer from.

Its not making me more oily than normal, I'm using it 3 times a week. maybe I'll try just 2 times a week.

Are you spacing out the days in between that you use it? usually when your skin is deep cleaning you will break out before it gets better. Just like when you get a facial; however if you are using it too often it could be too harsh for your skin. The great thing about a Clarisonic is that they have different brush heads.

It is definitely normal! Any dermatologist will tell you that. When you break out a lot after doing exfoliation treatments its "purging" and this is a good thing! Its just cleansing itself. Just be patient, which is hard to do. It will get worse before it gets better, but it will get better, trust.

I'm using it Mon, Wed, Fri. As directed, no more than 2-3 mins. I think my skin is purging just not 100%, I've never used something like this so I'm a little nervous that I'm wasting my time. I'll give it a full month before deciding on weather its worth it or not. do you think that's enough time to be able to tell or should I give it longer?

Keep using it! the breakouts are just your skin getting rid of all the bad stuff in there.
