So I'm in Canada where the weather has been very low lately, around 10-15 degrees Celsius. All of a sudden I woke up today and it's 28 degrees today, and only getting warmer. It's officially summer in Alberta lol.
My issue is I've been trying to lose weight after gaining a lot due to some medical issues but I am not quite at my old weight yet and I have no shorts that fit currently. I am wearing a size 30-34 in pants sizes depending on where they land on the hips or if they're high waisted and dependant on store sizing. I definitely have more of a belly than I used to so I'm not sure what would be flattering that doesn't make me just completely muffin top over them and where to find them for relatively inexpensive. I don't want to order online and I don't want them to be super super short. I happened to look in Garage yesterday for a quick minute, and their shorts are on sale but they are running low on stock and didn't have anything other than 00's really, but in just looking at styles even their "long" style shorts would have my ass hanging out if I bent over lol so I'm not into that. I haven't bought summer clothes while being this size so I'm not really sure what's flattering anymore. I tend to wear looser of the shoulder tops and tighter ankled jeans or dresses so I'm not sure what style of shorts would look good on me.
Any help would be appreciated.

Any suggestions on what styles from American Eagle? I don't want to go in completely blind so to say as it'll be very busy from the weather change and I'll be going on a Saturday and clothes shopping is one of my least favorite things to do lol.

Have you considered capris or "pedal pushers", Alyx, which you can easily adjust length through rolling? Do you have access to Kohls?

I really just want anything that isn't a full pair of pants lol. The shorter (as in at least up to my knee) the better as I get very warm with a lot of fabric. So short capris are fine but not the longer ones.
I know there is no kohls here. I just looked and the closest to me is in the states, haha. I have access to a lot of stores, we have west Edmonton mall that has over 400 stores so there's lots of one offs of the states brand stores but unfortunately kohls isn't one of them.
I actually checked my summer clothes box to try and find what shorts styles I was wearing and see if any of them fit so I could wait till I have more money next paycheck, and most of the comfy ones I wore are from target, which unfortunately closed down all of the Canadian stores so that sucks haha.
I'll look into the midi's at American Eagle, thanks Lenox-Mae and Alexandra:)

I like old navy too - I have thick thighs and short shorts are just too revealing for my large bottom - so I tend to get the old navy Bermuda shorts - they are longer than most stores carry which I like - also my thighs rub together so short shorts are just not fun for me - and old navy has great sizes for larger ladies as well and the fits are perfect for me

I just purchased some shorts from the brand a.n.a. at jc penny's and do recommend if they have a store anywhere near you. I liked the fir a lot.
