My hair used to be so long and thick and due to my lupus and the medications I'm taking, my hair has become so thin and dry. I heard crushing prenatal pills in your shampoo helps, has anyone tried it before??

I don't see how that would work at all. I don't think the hair/scalp would be able to absorb any of the nutrients from a crushed pill. I highly suggest talking to your doctor about what you can do.

I thought about doing this once until I read a thing that said something it being the same thing as pouring water onto your table. Your hair is technically dead once it reaches your scalp so how would adding some vitamins and then washing them off help? I don't know though I just thought of it differently when looking at it that way. However, I think that taking some Biotin could help BUT I would ask your doctor first; since taking Biotin can be bad if you don't need it and can make your hair fall out more and make you sick. Also I wouldn't consider consuming prenatal vitamins unless you are pregnant, because same thing with the Biotin, why take it if you don't need it.

If you just swallow the prenatal vitamins like normal it should help your hair grow. I don't think that crushing them into your shampoo with do much.

Do not take prenatal vitamins unless you are pregnant! They can seriously throw off your electrolyte and vitamin balance, and with lupus - you don't want that at all. I have lupus as well, and those medications can be awful ): what helped me was massaging my scalp nightly with coconut oil, to stimulate the follicles, then sleeping in it and washing in the morning. I use a lot of thickening sprays too, like Kenra's new one.

Talk with your doctor first before taking any pills or even putting pills in your shampoo. I've had weird reactions to stuff that I thought was going to be fine to put on. It's just a precaution :) but like others have stated I think the only way to get the benefits from those types of pills are by taking them and I am sure there are other vitamin pills that might be better geared.
