I currently only have the standard lobe piercings, and where I live the only place to get a piercing done uses a gun (it's not claire's). The cartilage in my ears are soft/bendy because I played with them when I was a kid so I'm not worried about my cartilage tearing/shattering. How common is infection? My pain tolerance isn't low, but I do feel a bit faint at the sight of myself bleeding.

I had an industrial piercing done years ago. As long as you keep it clean & take care of it well, chances of infection are pretty minimal.
I would try & find a tattoo place that does piercings as well, because they use sterilized needles to pierce, which is also the best way. The problem with those guns is that you can't sterilize them properly like you can with surgical steel. All my piercings (including my lobes) were done with a needle at a tattoo shop. Usually if you go to a reputable place where the staff are properly trained & everything is sterilized properly, everything should be okay.

Don't get it done with a gun. There's so much more risk of so many things. Especially infection. They can't properly sterilize the gun and the wound itself that the gun makes is not good for the healing of the skin and risks infection just for the type of trauma around the hole it makes.
Even if your ears are flexible it still can shatter the cartilage, and is still likely to. It doesn't matter how soft or bendy it is, it's still cartilage in it and it's still not going to pierce well with a gun.
It's honestly worth it to go to a tattoo shop that does piercings and pay extra for the needle. Your skin, cartilage and whole body will thank you for it when it doesn't have to fight three times as hard to heal. There will be a place that pierces with needles. I've never even heard of a city that doesn't, and if you live in a small town it's worth it to take a trip into the nearest city with a proper tattoo shop, you want to make sure they're APP verified. Anywhere that uses a gun, is not verified. Here's the website, you can use the locator to find one near you. Make sure you go by this website, as there are imposters that claim to be APP verified but if they aren't on that website, they aren't verified.
