So as a makeup artist, would you be able to use stick products directly in clients?(like eyeliner and eyebrow pencils). And how would you go about disinfecting them after use?

If you can sharpen them, why not just do that, then spray a make-up sanitizing spray on them made for make-up. Like the ones MAC stores use.

But what about the ones that retract and you can't sharpen?

I use wooden pencils that can be sharpened- I just feel that they are more sanitary. I've heard of people trying to sanitize retractables and it just makes me nervous since eye products are the most important to disinfect. I would put it on my metal palette instead of applying directly. That's why I prefer gel liners that come in a pot. Easy to scrape onto palette.

I have a friend that cuts hers into little 1 or 1/2 inch sections and then sharpens them and sticks them in those cigarette holders for one time use with each client. just an idea.

If you use alcohol, remember the 70% rule; higher concentrations don't penetrate the cell wall and evaporate too quickly to kill bacteria. Always 70% for disinfecting, per CDC guidelines. 99% alcohol isn't for sanitation. It's for alcohol activated makeup.
