Ok so I have to go to a museum opening tonight so I have to wear heals and I have an ingrown toe nail and it hurts. So how can I reduce the pain and swelling by tonight??

Mm okay this is kind of complicated but Ill try ti explain it thoroughly.
1) Collect Clippers and Tweezers and scisscors
2) Which ever side it hurts ,cut with the tweezers diagonally from the open edge to the side /
3) Take your finger and wiggle it around and if it isnt loose, cut more with the scissors until its lose.
4) use your finger or tweezers to pull it out by pulling towards yourself. It should come out cleanly.

To reduce swelling put an ice pack on it for a little bit.

For 2) I mean clippers not tweezers.

You really shouldn't be doing anything to it, as it will only make it worse everytime. that being said, if you want to fix it, be super careful not to damage the skin around it, as due to the wound being constantly touched by the toenail, it will get really bad and painful. I learnt that the hard way^^ so really avoid using pointy scissors. I find that it can be a relief to use the pointy bit of a metal nailfile to clean underneath the nail just to get out anything that might be applying additional pressure, like parts of the nail that have already separated from the nail.

Unfortunately I had already made it worse trying to get the nail out, so now I'm just waiting for it to heal a bit and see what happens. And wearing the heals did not help lol.

I had to go to a foot doctor (can't remember what they are called, sorry) and the completely numbed my toe than clipped off the in grown nail part. I didn't feel a thing, and keeping it wrapped help to heal them correctly. can you make it to a doctor?
