So for the past few days I've noticed that my foundation looks as if it's sinking into my pores and I just look textured/cakey/old and it's really been bumming me out. I haven't been using any new techniques or items lately really (I bought the new Maybelline Dream Velvet and orginally thought it was that but it's even happening with my Revlon Colorstay). I make sure to wash my skin and also to use setting spray and I just have no clue. What I'm basically asking is: tips to keeping my skin less textured, items that really clean out the pores, and maybe just some flawless foundation tips? If anyone could respond that'd be greatly appreciated, I haven't felt motivated to do my makeup and when I do my skin issue just makes me want to take it off. Thank you in advance. <3.

I have that problem when I apply a rich cream but my skin is dehydrated. The makeup moves with the oils of the cream and then the dehydrated skin tries to drink it.

Oh that makes sense, I mean the weather here has been pretty cold.
Do you think I should use a different moisturizer?

Definitely get the makeup forever smoothing primer. your pores will look like they disappeared!!

Same thing has been happening to my foundation and it's definitely the cold weather. Make sure your skin is prepped, cleansed/exfoliated/and moisturized (make sure you are giving time for it to set before applying foundation). Like Nathalie mentioned your skin might be dehydrated with the cold weather :)

Try a good mask and some rest (makeup free) if you can this weekend. Then add one product at a time to see what may be causing the issue. Also recommend daily exfoliation, a good moisturizer, and a primer made for your skin needs.

Hi Molly I think you'll need a good facial extraction. I find that when I get them my skin becomes the perfect canvas for the makeup. Here is a Marie Claire link I think will help. :)

I have no helpful information as I'm in the same boat but how do you like the dream velvet? I'm dying to try it.

Exfoliate more often and use a face mask to make sure your pores are clean and your skin is prepped. I use 2 moisturizers and 1 primer. Your skin really can take up a lot of moisturize withthe cold weather. Aloe vera is also a good layer of moisture underneath foundation. I recommend the Maybelline Pore Eraser to fill pores and blur them before you use a primer and it will really smooth out and prep your skin.

@Dana I absolutely love the foundation itself. It is actually full coverage which I wasn't expecting (I have super bad acne a lot of the time so the coverage was appreciated). It seemed like it lasted well throughout the day without letting all my oils show. The only con is that the color range is very pink toned and that when they do seem to get more yellow, they're too dark for someone like me (I'm a NC 15). However I do make it work and I love it, I just need to get my skin more normal again. xD.

@Ariana I didn't know that about aloe vera, good to know thank you!!

No way I'm an NC 15 too!! Lol I have normal to dry skin so I hope it works for me. what shade do you use?

That's awesome I love it. xD
I used Warm Porcelain (the lightest shade I think) and mixed in my Mac Prolongwear Concealer and it made it a perfect match for me. c:

Update: my foundation looks way better thank you all!! I didn't use my moisturizer this morning and it looks a lot better! I also used a mask last night and that helped too I think. I just need to find a day time moisturizer and I'll be set. c:

I try to get a facial once a month or every other month. It seriously helps my makeup sit better.
