What is your price range?

I always recommend the Chocolate bar palette, especially for beginners. Its a great palette - It has a little bit of everything. Its neutral but has some good pops of colors, like purple, red, gold, green-ish, all very wearable. It has both matte and shimmery shades. 2 big highlight shades, one matte and one shimmery.
All the colors play well together and gives the posibillity of so many looks. They are easy to work with and blend easily.

I love Lorac shadows. My favorite is the Lorac Pro Palette because it's very versatile, but the Unzipped palette is also great if you want more pinky sort of colors.

I highly recommend any of the Lorac Pro Palettes. They have an equal mix of matte and shimmer shades and neutrals with some fun shades. They're perfectly pigmented and blend like a dream (:
