Okay so I'm a little mad to say the least... So I am a VIB and was about $50 away from being VIB Rouge, a sephora employee told me that I should wait to buy in January so it would extend the Rouge status for 24 months instead of just 12 months. So I just get online to place an order, and if I'm looking at it right, I have to now spend the $1000 to get to Rouge. I'm really pissed off, but I'm mainly just confused. So what do you think, am I still the $50 away or did it start over and I have to spend $1000. I haven't bought anything the last two months because of all this mess.

I think you need to spend 1000 in a year to get VIB rouge. So in 2015 if you were $50 away from the $1000 you spent $950 in the year. now its January 2016...so the year is 2016 now and the $$ you spent in 2015 won't apply anymore. You need spend 1000 in 2016 now to get rouge. I'm pretty sure. I'm sorry if I'm wrong.

I wish I would have known yesterday, I'm really upset because she told me that and I thought she knew what she was talking about. It really pisses me off because I've been waiting😩

No it's not calendar year! The year starts/ends when you make that first purchase.

The employee was confused. your status is good for the current year and the next year after you qualify (so if you qualify in December its good the next year and your status isn't wasted) and it does go by calender year, January to December. I know it's easier to ask direct questions than sift through the help page on the website but I just had a very similiar issue and that's where I got most of my info. your points should always keep rolling over, but they won't count toward your status.

75% of the Sephora staff are clueless and say the wrong information, one asked for my beauty insider email and she didn't put my points in any account she lied and wanted to rush everyone out and I spent hundreds so I could have gotten the rouge and I have to start over now that it's January.

@Al I've had them mess up before with the points! They drive me crazy!

I'm confused. Last November I got an email saying that I had another $50 to spend by the end of the year to extend my VIB Rouge status to 2016. Well that wasn't hard. Foundation, highlighter, lipstick and blush and I qualify. So, since I spent $1000 in 2015, I assume I am a VIB Rouge til the end of 2016. Is that correct? Don't you have to spend at least $1000 on the previous year to qualify for the following year?

Yes, see I was told (two separate times and also another time on a beauty blog) that waiting until January, would extend the Rouge status that would last two years instead of one. Apparently I should have not listened and bought stuff a few days ago.
But to answer your question Marleen, yes it should last until 12/16 for you.
I was hoping mine would last until 12/17 like I was told it would be...

That's awful! I'm so sorry that employee was so misinformed.
Yes, since it's 2016 now, the calendar resets, and you have to spend $1000 again to qualify. Basically, you have to spend $1000 within the calendar year to qualify for that year and the following year. So spending that much in 2015 qualifies you for 2015 and 2016. Now that it's the next year, however, the dollars spent has been reset. So if you spend $1000 more dollars, you'll qualify for the rest of 2016 and then for 2017 as well.
Sephora rewards are kind of bogus in my opinion. I only buy from them if it's an exclusive brand. So, if it's something like Urban Decay or Too Faced, I buy from Ulta instead. Their rewards program is much better; you only have to spend $400 to be a platinum member, and you can redeem your points for actual money instead of just little sample "rewards."
So sorry again!

Thank you everyone! I know its not the end of the world, and that I'll more than likely make it Rouge well before the year is over, but the situation still sucks!
@Jamie, I usually love Sephora, and have never had any issues until now, I've had them screw up my points but got them to fix it, but this ordeal just make me really mad. I know I'll still primarily shop at Sephora because I absolutely I loathe Ulta and only go there when they are the only place that has a product I need, so I'll force myself to go in, but other than that I try to avoid it at all cost... Oh well though, guess you live and learn! Thanks again!
