Returning makeup to Sephora?

I recently bought the UD naked pallet and was gifted the same exact pallet, can I return the gifted pallet with my receipt from Sephora even though my mother bought the pallet at ulta? As long as it's the same exact product I should be able to right?

I say return the old one with yoyr receipt and keep the gifted because Sephora keeps a member purchase history and your new product has a sku # on the packaging which will differ from your receipt. Then you can get your cash back and still enjoy your gift. :)
