Jane; I don't have a hair stylist. Most of the salons around here specialize on doing hair for white women and they don't know how to work with my hair type.

Maybe make an appointment with your hairstylist so s/he can show you how to do Bantu knots or twist outs.

Refrain from washing on the daily if you can. And watch the daily conditioning. I refresh my curls with a mix of water, glycerin and aloe vera. I mix it in a spray bottle and spritz in the AM. It adds shine and keeps it hydrated. Your hair looks healthy from the pic you posted. ;) It's such an adventure being a natural beauty but don't give up.

Shelley; I'm trying to get better with not washing my hair. I'm conditioning everyday lol :(

I wanted the same at one time but gave up because I don't have the hair texture for it to sit up like that. And plus my hair is super long...stretches to my butt. You could try teasing your hair with a hair pick...especially if you're going into day three on no washing.

It's not a great pic but here's my hair when it's wet and not combed. I big chopped in February.

Okay so, I have super curly natural hair which also happens to be super short. Well not super short, if I brush it it's definitely long enough to do small braids but not long enough for a ponytail. I love my natural hair but I want it to be..bigger. Any tips on how to get my hair to look like this? :( I can't seem to get the hang of Bantu knots or twist outs.
