Red is great!! But it fades quickly so the upkeep can get pricey depending on where you go. Cosmetology schools are cheap.

(You have to specifically buy the red color but they have it for brunettes and blondes as well)

Also, if you go red you can buy shampoo from tressa. You can find it online. It's called tressa water colors. It deposits the red onto your hair every time you shampoo so it keeps it vibrant. Love that stuff!! (Did I mention its only 8 bucks? AND it's sulphate free!) win/win

I'm pumped because Pureology has come out with a red line that contains redkens rubiline technology so it help reds stay longer. Red = hardest color to get in, and one of the hardest to get out.

Going red is never the problem it will be maintaining the color. When coloring red, the pigment doesn't fully penetrate the cuticle and it actually fades faster then other colors. The riveting reds come out quick depending on how often you wash your hair. You will most likely want to double process use ion 5IR and you can add extra red additive. You will want the toner shampoo and conditioner to prevent fading and wash in cold water.

Goto Sally's. Get The Protein Filler, 20-30 Volume Developer, Loreal HiColor HiLights For Dark Hair... Probably In Red Hot, & Then Your Gonna Want Riveting Reds In Shampoo & Conditioner.

Amber, I would REALLY recommend a professional when working with red. It can easily go wrong. You can look at pics that girls are posting and them telling you what they used but just because it turned out one way on them does NOT mean it will do the same with your hair. There are several things that affect the outcome of color. 1) the current color/level that your hair is now. 2) whether or not you have existing color or virgin hair, 3.) porosity/texture of your hair. If you decide to choose a professional do your research online. it will be worth it. you want to LOVE your hair when you're finished. Be careful and good luck!

I recently dyed my hair an auburn color and I absolutely love it! I used two boxes of Garnier's "Medium Auburn Brown"...it has a very subtle dark brown low light with a lovely red color all over.
