I have been trying to contour and highlight but it doesn't seem to work how I want. My "bronzer" is way to light it's basically just a face powder right now, and I don't have a highlighter. Somebody please leave tips and some products!

You can try using Benefit's Hoola Bronzer or Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer to contour with. They both do very well for many skin tones to contour with. And for a more drug store option Physicians Formula have a lot of different bronzer that you could also contour with but I haven't gotten to try them yet. I wouldn't recommend getting a contour pallette unless you think all of the colors in it could work for your skin tone. And you can never go wrong with a neutral contour color. Just make sure you use more of a light hand when sculpting your cheekbones and nose areas and blend it out so it doesn't create a harsh line. You can also use a fave powder to clean up the edges of you think the color got a little out of hand when you blended it out. If placement is a problem for you, there are many videos on YouTube that can help show you how to contour your fave shape and which type of products to use! For highlighters it really depends of your preference and skin tone. The Anastasia Glow Kits are AMAZING and each kit comes with 4 different shades. There's also Becca highlighters that are great and come in a variety of colors abut they are a bit pricey. I do know that Sephora offers a trial size of Becca's Opal highlighter and it comes with both the liquid and powder for $20 and is a great value if you want to try it. The Balm, Jeffree Star, NYX, and Too Faced also have some great highlighters to look into. And make sure you put a highlighter on the high points of the face with a light hand. You can always layer it and intensify the glow. But if you are more oily, don't put too much highlighter on so it doesn't exaggerate the oiliness. If you are more dry, you can definitely put more on in the center of the face (nose, forehead, chin, cupids bow) and you can also use it as an eyeshadow for a brightening effect in the inner corners! If you go into your local Sephora they can also teach you some tips and recommend products for you or get you samples! I hope this helps :)

Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder is the only thing you'll ever need to contour, it's the perfect tone and creates such a natural contour. For highlighting I like the NYX Illuminator in the shade Ritualistic, nice and glowy without looking too overpowering or glittery.

I quite like this sculpting powder by MAC it's in the shade "Shadowy" (which is the darkest shade I believe) it's got that grey tone that makes your contour look more realistic.
Get a greyish toned color to contour and a bronzer to add warmth in other areas.
Here it is compared to a bronzer (MAC Matte Bronze)

Second the Kevyn aucoin sculpting powder. Medium is universal and I've used it for years on my very fair skin tone but now they also have light and dark. Don't be fooled by the contour palettes. You only need 1 contour shade unless you are an artist. The other shades in palette will go to waste. Highlighting with a light concealer, and then setting with a light powder looks great.

If you like cream bronzer my fave of life is tan de Soleil by Chanel. Not sold here.

Be careful not to get a contour color too grey. It can look superrrrr ashy. I want neutral to cool. KA powder is like $44 and looks like not a lot but I gaurantee you it's worth the investment and it will last you a year or two. It just takes a dab. It's also sleek and compact so you don't have to worry about 50 palettes when doing your makeup.

I contour with KA powder, highlight with naked concealer by urban decay and then set with a banana powder. I love the one by the brand manna Kadar. You can also highlight under the eye just with it and not concealer. Chrisspy from YouTube does it and I got turned on to be product from her. It's awesome. C2 or c3 as shades to highlight.

After you contour you can just lightly go over it all with a fluffier brush and light hand with a warmer bronzer. Too faced chocolate is awesome (you can also contour but not as natural as KA). Laura Mercier in 03 bronzer is stunning. My fave.
