Hey guys! I have dark acne scarring on my cheeks that really bug me. I do have some texture/scar issues but most of it is just red/purple scarring. Without makeup it seems like I still have acne but I don't and it really upsets me. Will vitamin c serum help face the color? Idk what else to try! Help!

Yes, but it won't be gone overnight. It can takes months or even years to fully fade discolorations. I would also incorporate a glycolic toner and definitely sunscreen. Sunscreen everyday even when it's overcast. One day in the sun without protection can erase 6 months of consistently working on fading discolorations. Texture issues are tougher. Retinols can help with smoothness, but depending on how bad your textural issues are, may not be able to smooth out your skin completely. You may have to see a dermatologist. But, I would definitely try improving your skin on your own ist, esp. if you don't have the money to throw around.

Thanks Marleen! I'm not looking to solve my texture issues right now since that will be tougher. I'll be happy if I can fade the discoloration since that is more prominent! :)

I'd also add that a routine that has retinol and vitamin c can help the discoloration sooner.
Retinol tends to make products work better from my own experience and from what I've seen.
Is try getting a vitamin C and retinol based routine.
The darker the discoloration, the longer it'll take to fade due to it having more melanin.
Vitamin C works by decreasing the amount of melanin in that area so the more it has, the longer it will take.
With retinol my hyperpigmentation fades in under a month, sometimes as soon as a week.
I personally got tretinoin (prescription retinol) prescribed by a dermatologist.
The prescription one works better since its stronger but I'd try the over-the-counter ones first just so your skin can build up to tolerate the retinol

A great vitamin c treatment I've tried is the Lumene beauty drops! I have been using for about two weeks and already my scars are dramatically diminished. My scars were all red though not purple. But this worked better then any other treatment I tried! Everyone's skin is different but you should definitely check it out!
