What is the best product to use to contour?

"Best" is subjective as everyone has different skin types and preferences. Personally I use the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette to contour. I use the shade Sombre on a Real Techniques Contour Brush and a MAC 217 for the sides of my nose (:

I personally use Kevyn Aucoins sculpting powder. The shade is perfect... Cool toned and no glitter. The Contour Book 2 is absolutely perfect as a contour and highlight palette. It features both of his contour/highlight shades and some other beautiful shades.

MAC Sculpting powder. I got the darkest shade in shadowy, it looks slightly reddish toned in the pic due to lighting but it's actually quite cool toned. It's matte and they have a few other lighter colors so if you're lighter and don't want to blend as much then one of the other colors would work

Finding the perfect contour shade is the most difficult things to find next to the perfect concealer and the the perfect nude lipstick. I've tested a lot. And even though everyone says go for a grey tone or cool tone, its not that cut and dry. Everyone's skintone is different. I can not wear a true cool or grey tone contour, it looks like ash or soot on my skin. And I definitely stay away from warm shades. I finally found a neutral tone that works perfectly for my skintone. Marc Jacobs Contour in Mirage 40 (the middle shade). The third shade may work for you, but honestly, youre just going to have to try different ones til you find the right one. The one thing I do agree with, is that it should be matte.

I love hoola by benefit to contour. And I use a zoeva contouring brush (not sure of the exact name sorry)
