In the market for a new face lotion: Help!

I'm looking for a new moisturizer that will soak in all the way and not leave a residue – also doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I have combo skin; not both at once, but different every few days.

I've heard a lot of people on here rave about Cetaphil and Cereve, so I'm interested in trying one of those. Which do you prefer and why? And if you found a drug store holy grail that isn't one of those, tell me about it :)

It's all over the place haha. Some days it's totally fine. Others it's flaky and I need lotion. Others I can fill up two oil blot sheets. I can't even troubleshoot or predict it. So I'm just looking for a normal moisturizer that doesn't sit heavy and I can re-apply if I need it, but won't contribute to the oily-ness. Something light that absorbs well.

I have sensitive skin, so it gets very irritated if I cleanse every day, so I wash every other day, or three days, depending. If it's dry or normal, I wait. If it's oily, I use Burts Bees face wipes for normal skin, or "for oily" in the summer. I just started using Burts face wash and toner, the Brightening line, about a month ago, and so far I like it. I don't have a solid moisturizer yet bc I just can't find one that I like enough to buy on repeat. So right now it's Vitamin E oil, and maybe some mild lotion that I know agrees with me.

I don't have a strict regimen, I just kinda go with how my skin feels; if it's dry, I moisturize it, if it's oily, I clean it. I have relatively clear skin, so it's working for me. I just can't find a lotion. Urrggg

I highly suggest finding a cleanser that you can use daily. Your skin is probably overproducing oils when it does because it gets so dry so it's trying to overcompensate. I suggest the Origins Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash, it's for combination skin so it'll work for you regardless of what state your skin is in. I would see what your skin does (meaning if it becomes normal, stays dry, or stays oily) and then get a moisturizer that coincides with how your skin settles.

Well since your skin is constantly changing it's hard to suggest a moisturizer that'll work for your skin no matter what state it's in. From my knowledge Cetaphil is for oily skin and CeraVe is for dry skin. Since they're drugstore you could buy both and use them accordingly with how your skin is at the time but since you said you're using vitamin e oil at the moment that should work just fine for the time being.

The Vitamin E oil isn't cutting it anymore. It just sits on top of my skin and nothing happens lol. I just feel like I need a real lotion. That's all helpful info, thank you. :)

I use the cerave PM lotion for combo to oily skin and I love it! It's my go to non active moisturizer. It sinks in nicely and doesn't make me greasy, but is hydrating enough even when my skin feels more combo-dry than oily.

I believe the only major difference between the Cerave pm and am is that the pm doesn't contain spf. However for me personally, I use the pm for night and day because I find the am to be too greasy for my oily skin.

I agree with Brittany I wasn't a fan of the am one. It felt heavier than the pm one and left a white cast on my face.
