Contouring is meant to mimic a grey tone, as shadows are grey. Yours is very muddy, and needs blending a little more, especially more towards the ear. What did you use to achieve it?

This is just purely out of interest (I'm not trying to be rude in any way) but wouldn't you have learnt contouring (and maybe perfected) on your cosmetology course? I've heard the courses are very practical-based.

Personally I don't think it's THAT bad but I agree that the color is a little off. Would you mind sharing the product? Also I think you only contoured and didn't highlight, so I think that would have also helped because what you want is to bring out the cheekbones and a highlight helps adding dimension when your contour is too warm.

Btw I like contouring with an orange bronzer but I need a banana powder for it to look okay.

Don't contour with bronzer, let alone orange... contouring is meant to mimic a shaddow so you want to use a grey or purple based brown. And no, cosmetology is mainly hair, you go over basic makeup application.

For it being your first time kudos to you for trying. I love what you did in the second pic because it's not as heavy handed and looks lil more natural. Be sure that when you post pics like this that you give product deets so there can be further substance for your post. As you advance in skill/technique along with learning about various products it will only get better...practice makes perfect beautiful.

I don't think it's bad at all compared to most, just maybe use a cooler toned colour next time. :) kudos for your first time.

For it being your 1st time, the placement according to your face shape is spot on! I barely learned how to contour my round face after several practices, since round faces are a pain in the butt x:. Anywho lol, I have learned that certain girls prefer a warmer toned contour so they'd consider a bronzer over an actual cool - toned sculpting powder, or powder. If that's you, then by all means continue using the powder you have on to contour, but if you used simply what was on hand bc you're not truly knowledgeable about what contouring is, then I'd second what the ladies above mentioned and go with a cooler powder to contour.

Bailee I know there's a difference between contour and bronzer... It's just that where I live that's all we got, plus I don't think it looks that bad IMO it still can add dimension to the face in a more goldeny way I guess.

If you like a bronzed contour then do what you like not what people say you should on some skin tones grey tone contour dose not look good it mainly looks good on pale to light skin tones imo I like more of a cool brown for me so to each their own my only constructive criticism would be to blend and lighten up on product application and use a light hand.

I think it's a pretty good job first time contouring. I'm not good at contouring at all lol so this is much better than mine. I'm curious about what product and maybe what brush you used. From what I've seen other people do is like lightly dusting it on with a fan brush.

I've never seen anyone use a fan brush for contouring...come to think of it that's a really good way!! It wouldn't be as harsh and the brush is super thin to really get in the cheekbone
