What would happen if you applied a dark grey color on top of light brown color?

Nothing, in order to color hair gray the hair needs to be a pale yellow color.

It'll either make your hair darker brown or just make your hair color a more neutral brown.

I had my hair dyed grey a few months ago, it had to have the heck bleached out of it in order for it look grey, when the dye was applied

My hair is grey ombre at the min it wouldn't take on brown I had to have it bleached to a light yellow before it even took and then the first try was a pale green so had any other grey applied X
