Hi girls,

I would like to know your opinion on sugaring technique for hair removal mainly for underarms and bikini area. How painful is it? Does it really work as well as what it is portrayed on videos online. Also what is the exact measurement for a successful sugar recipe for the same.

I have done this once before. I don't know the recipe by heart but it was easy to make and it was a really good consistency. however, it was kinda more painful than waxing and I wasn't able to do it myself because it hurts so much.

And it also leaves a sticky residue which is hard to take off.

I get sugaring done on my face every 6-8 week, it hurts about the same as wax but its a lot better for the skin as the sugar paste don't rip at the skin but only the hairs. And I never ever had any sticky residue.
I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself but going to a professional to have it done!

Yes Sabrina, I'm sure professional sugaring is a totally different experience... I can only speak for diy.

I've done it both diy and professionally. There's very few places that do it here and it's really expensive so I tried it once just to see and then started doing it at home. I don't find it that painful, but I've been getting waxed several times a year for several years so I'm kinda used to the pain. It's hard to get a perfect consistency, it takes a bit of practice and it's a little bit of a preference whether you want it more squishy or solid, solid takes more hair in one go but can be harder to work with. Squishier is easier to work with but you have to go over areas a few times. The best thing about it imo is that it's reusable, you can just reheat it and use it several times. I don't know the exact recipe, I usually just go on YouTube and follow whatever recipe they use lol. Since I only do it every few months I don't have anything saved. I also have never experienced any residue from mine, nothing that didn't just wipe off easily anyway.

I don't know how easy it would be near the bikini area, I imagine it would be very difficult to handle the sugar wax down there lol.

I would just experiment with it a few times and see if you like it or not.

I love it, it doesn't rip your skin causing wax burns and for me personally doesn't hurt as much as waxing does. It's difficult to get the recipe right at first, but trust me it's worth it after you've mastered the technique.
