Obviously not exactly like that badly edited photo, but a shorter style...

How long is your hair?

I think a bob would suit you better :) like Lucy Hale's haircut. If you like how you feel with short hair, then you could go with a pixie.

I got a pixie cut and I didnt like it at all. it may seem "easy" to tame, but it really isnt. it also takes forever to grow back out since your hair grows approximately 6 inches each year. Also expect lots of trips to the salon if your growing it out or keeping it the same. Good luck

I had a pixie cut it was really hard to handle. It's so awkward growing out and it takes a long time. My hair is armpit length now and I started growing it out 3 years ago. Just know that you're young and young people want to change their hair a lot which is totally understandable bc it is fun, you will want to grow it out at some point and it would be faster to grow if it was just a bob. I've been a hairstylist for 7 years now and I've seen a lot of cuts that are in between a bob and a pixie. Check that out. Once it's a pixie it's short and you can't have long hair back again that easy. But do what you want bc we learn all the time and then you'll know what it was like to decide if you'd like it enough to keep it or go back to it

I was pretty sad bc I was 23 and I knew I wouldn't have the hair I want until like 26 or 28. That's old when it comes to finally having the hair you want. I want mine past the chest and then I'll just get haircuts every 6 weeks bc I'll finally have my length. That's another year and a half to 2 years. Sorry for all the personal stories, I'm just giving you an idea of time.

I have a pixie for nearly a year and I love it! I say go for it.

It's easy to manage and it doesn't take too much effort to make it look good. It impacts on everything and I personally think it makes what I wear look better and makes things look more stylish and "put together".

It can be a pain to grow it out granted but my hairdresser is amazing and he works really hard to find a style that suits me and if I wanted to grow it out has plenty of ideas to help that process.

My advice is try pinning it up to see what it might look like. Go to a stylist (try looking for someone who's used to doing short haircuts (my hairdresser cuts mens and women's styles and has a real passion for cutting short hair, though does work with longer hair too). I also think it's important to have a stylist you can trust and talk to about what you're looking for, what you like and how you want it to look. It's also important for them to be able to give you advice on what may/ may not suit you or be suitable for your hairtype.

Apologies for the length but going short can be a big change so it's important to do everything you can to make it work for you.

Everyone's hair is different and everyone has different taste. I think Rebecca is right, getting help from a stylist is the best. I myself enjoy mens cuts and short hair a lot too but hair type has a lot to do with styling, it is easy for Rebecca and it was almost impossible for me. I have really thin hair if that says anything. I have clients who love their short hair and some that tried it and I'm helping them grow it out as well. But yeah have fun with your hair and go for it! A stylist should be able to give you some advice.

Grace raises a good point about hair type. My hair is fine but there's a lot of it. It's mostly straight but with a slight wave. I can get away with letting it air dry and not doing much to it.

From experience with friends who've gone short, it seems that very thick hair or curly hair can make a pixie more difficult to manage.

It's about getting the right cut really. My hair works best when it's a short pixie (rather than a longer one) because it's lighter and I'm able to build volume/ texture more easily. While others find something longer is better.

Ask if you could have a consultation with a stylist to discuss before you make the commitment. I had a bob for about 18 months (my hair was very long prior to that) which made me want to go shorter. If you're nervous why not try a bob first and then talk about pixie cuts with your stylist, then you can have time between that appointment and the next to see what you want to do?

Thank you for the advice, I would love to try a bob but my hair is quite thick. I have had one once and it made me look like a watermelon?? Suggestions??

I got a pixie hair cut last year and it was great for a while. At first I loved it and it was amazing. But soon styling it became a huge pain as I have wavy and thick hair. I'm growing it out right now, and it's at a really awkward stage. Ultimately the choice is up to you, it feels amazing to have the wind in your hair and to feel as though you have Lost a pound of hair. Yet it is kinda tricky to style and it's awkward to grow out.
