Washing new brushes

Just curious how many of you wash your brushes before the first use. Kind of trying to settle a argument, I feel like you always should and a friend of mine thinks it's okay to use them without washing them first.

I don't wash my new brushes before using them but I only recently started investing in brushes so it probably is a good idea to wash them beforehand. I haven't really had any trouble with my brushes though.

I personally always wash my brushes before use. If you purchased a brush that has been individually packaged in a way that ensures nothing has touched the bristles, then I can there shouldn't be any issues with using it before washing.

I wash any brand new brushes I buy. Most brand new brushes have floating hairs, and a wash will remove a majority of the floaters so I don't have to spend time picking them off the skin I'm working on. Sometimes the smell of residual adhesive gets to me too, and a good wash gets rid of that smell.

I usually do. mostly because I'm germaphobic and I hate the fake/plastic smell they can have as Jacqueline mentionned. I think its always best to give them a wash first... because why not lol?

Synthetics, yes. Natural hair, no. Granted, I only buy a few natural hair brushes and they're quite expensive so I don't wish to speed up their 'aging' process.
