Fun thread!! Well my biggest makeup mistakes and things I cringe over thinking back is; 1: When I was a teen I used to use waaaaaaay to dark foundation because being as pale as I am was definitely not the trend back then! Cringe!! 2: I only started filling in my eyebrows like 3 years ago, I never ever heard of people doing it or thought about doing it up until like 4 years ago and then I slowly started getting into it. 3: Using hairspay as setting spay (yes I actually did that) when I started using makeup setting spats was not something people talked about, I don't even think it was a thing for the general public, probably only mua's used it, so a nifty trick we were taught was to spray a light layer of hair spray over our face when we needed our makeup to hold all night!

Haha I cringe just thinking about all these things!!

When people use colors that don't work on them. D: my friend uses a red/purple that makes her eyes look bruised. :(

Eye liner that's not smooth and neat kills me. I didn't dare leave the house when I first started wearing it as it was wonky or something. wait until it's half decent please :-)
I'm Deffo guilty of a orange face through upper school.
over plucking my eye brows when I was 14 to now not have half as much come back :-( I'm 24 now. lol goodbye brows

When I first started wearing foundation I had a shade that was completely orange on me. To make it worse I'd put it over my eyebrows, making them orange as well! Cringe everyone I see an old photo!

One horror story of mine is during winter I get very very pale and one day for school last year I was in a hurry and used a darker foundation/ powder and the difference between my face and neck was terrifying. I had to use water/paper towels in the bathroom to get it off XD.

It is hard to pick just 3. I guess I'm just a hater. lol Orange contour or contour that comes to the lips, people with small foreheads that contour them, nose contour, basically not contouring for your own face.
baking. *shudder*
"how to wing liner" and it's shown on an almond eye every time as if that's not the easiest to work with anyways...You know what I'm just going to make the third one YouTube tutorials in general. because they are the cause for a better half of my makeup peeves lol.

I agree with everyone who said unblended eyeshadow. it doesn't have to be blended perfectly to not annoy me. but for example, I had a manager at one point that would just draw two big ovals over her eyes with one solid shadow, coming slightly above her crease, and leave them like that with a sharp line. I just can't imagine how she thought it looked good.
and Melanie I feel that way about hair colors! I think most people can make most eyeshadows work, but someone who is naturally very fair and pink with Ronald mcdonald hair makes me want to be intrusive in their life! I just feel like they would do better if they knew better lol.
and day I did the same thing as a teenager, but don't give up! 24 is not too old and you have plenty of time to grow them back. mine took over a decade and a lot of castor oil but it happened!
and a quick story time about the foundations: I was at Sephora just last week and overheard a girl foundation shopping. I didn't mean to eavesdrop but it stood out to me when she said "I don't want one that matches I need it about 4 shades lighter and then it will all come together and look good when I contour"
I gasped out loud without meaning to. lol people are doing it on purpose these days!

1. Eyebrows
2. the super contoured look
3.lipstick that looks like foundation. I'm not sure why that one bothers me but it does. lol.

1. Obviously overdrawn lips—you aren't fooling anyone 🙃
2. Unblended makeup in general. Eyeshadow with harsh lines or foundation that doesn't go past the jawline.
3. Super messy unplucked eyebrows. There's a difference between natural and just plain messy. It's especially bad when they put eyeshadow over it

People shaving off their eyebrows and drawing them in.

Jen C- I don't like foundation mouth either! Certain lipsticks look like concealer and it's typically not flattering (it's more of an avante garde runway look vs real life)
My top three are
1. Overly done bronzer/ Oompa Loompa face
2. Thick cakey foundation (I see people with perfect skin doing this and it puzzles me)
3. Blinding highlight- less is more 👌🏼

Hmmm, mine would have to be eyebrows ( when people don't groom them, fill them in harshly, or not enough)
my second would be extensively over drawing lips.
3. I know this may sound strange, but I can't stand when people do thier makeup especially eyeshadow and don't put on any mascara or they do put it on but very very little and it still looks like they have none on. Personally I need my lashes to be seen with a good coat of mascara or falsies when I have eye make up on.

Fun topic! My cringes are:
1. Harsh, Instagram brows. Joan Crawford looked fabulous in them, but they look much different on-screen and in photos than in person. It's just not something I can personally relate to..no offense to anyone intended.
2. Bold highlight and harsh contour. I'm pairing these because they seem to ho hand-in-hand. In sunlight or daylight lighting, these detract from skin's natural beauty. Harsh contour photographs amazing, but again doesn't always flatter, in my view, off camera or in certain lighting..especially in daylight. For editorial looks, this can be amazing. You have to really own this kind of look from head to toe. Punks do this perfectly, for example. If you can rock a
Siouxsie Sioux, then, by God, have at it. It can be amazing.
3. Orange foundation or foundation not properly matched. It creates a mask and doesn't enhance skin, but instead cries "I'm wearing foundation" in a way that even full coverage does not do when matched correctly.

*Honorable mention: Cake around the eyes. Less is sometimes more. Building up product in thick layers, to me, creates enhancement of an area you may already be self-concious about. Too much powder often intensifies this issue..especially with dry eyes.

I have my own fair share of looks that I'm certain would make members cringe, such as my liner most days, but make-up is a skill. We all have something we do best and others we're working to perfect. Fun thread. Hope it is taken with a laugh and a light heart. :)

Super clumpy lashes, "sperm" brows, and caked on blush. I can't decide which one makes me cringe more! Lol.
