I am going to a lush hiring party on Thursday and was wondering if you ladies had any tips/experience working at lush?

I don't work there but I have worked in a skincare store, I think its important to know the products and show how much you like them. the lush staff is usually super helpful and well informed. so I would try to show that.

Hey Christine! I actually work at Lush and am a part of my shop's hiring team.

The best advice I can give you is to be comfortable and positive!

Of course it's an interview, and it's totally understandable to be nervous, but essentially the entirety of the job is being comfortable talking and showing products to strangers, which includes having to touch people and rub lotion on them, etc. So you'll probably do some role playing being a sales associate, and you need to show off your ability to hold a conversation and interact well with others.

And Lush is a pretty positive, feedback based environment. You need to have an upbeat attitude and energy, especially for the holidays when things get crazy, and if you get advice on how to improve your role playing, make sure you take notes and are able to try and put them into practice!

You might want to do a little research into Lush as well. Mostly focus on their ethical practices, such as no animal testing and eco friendly packaging (or no packaging at all!).

A few "don'ts" are to talk bad about any previous employers or work history, not listen to feedback, and you definitely don't want to fall into the background!

Volunteer to go first for things, show your personality, be outgoing! You don't have to be cheerleader peppy or anything, but Lush wants people that are comfortable putting themselves out there.

Also I just want to add that product knowledge is always a bonus, but it's really not expected of you to know anything about the products at the party. You will have to demo them, but don't get caught up in what does what - they'll teach you that later. They mainly want to see that you are capable of interacting with people, not that you know every little thing about a certain product.

Good luck!! And let me know if you have any more questions :)

Thanks Jamie! I shop a lot at lush so I know a bit about their ethical practices.

I do tend to be more nervous around large groups (especially when being evaluated) but I've worked in customer service before so I can normally get it under control.
