Hey everyone,
I'm having a major fail awful hair situation at the moment. for the last 4 months my hair was dyed black (it was virgin before, natural colour is dark brown). then it was quite faded so I dyed it medium brown last week. but the the roots were sooo light compared to the rest it was just plain ugly. so I just did the color oops an hour ago and my hair is literally dark orange... I'm freaking out.
I want the natural dark brown colour back. can I dye it over the orange? should I get dark brown dye? and should I do a protein mask before? right now I have a regular nourishing one because my hair is so crispy. am I destroying my hair?
any help is welcomed, thank you!!

You can definitely dye over the orange but you could also try doing color oops again, if your hair is not too damaged for it. Sometimes the black is too much for it to take out in one go. I would wait till you dye your hair to do a protein mask, just because your hair may just be dry and too much protein is not a good thing

Thanks Alyx! I will dye it with the brown dye soon and do a protein mask later this week if you think its best to waiy. my hair is definitely not black anymore and I'm going dark brown so I won't use the color oops again. well see how it turns out!

Before you dye again, buy the Redken Cat Protein Spray. Itll put protein into your hair and after doing this everyday for a week (by reading the instructions on the bottom) you can dye it again. Thats what I did and my hair feels and looks better too.

Thanks brook, ill look into that product but I did dye my hair already because I was dark orange... really awful. I dyed it dark brown but now in certain areas, especially near the top there is still a red orange reflection. I'm freaking out... should I it dye dark brown again in a few days? its so ugly and embarrassing and I clueless.

Since you stripped your hair you needed to use a semi permanent color that will deposit color back to the hair.

That color oops comes right out with a sulfate heavy shampoo. I found that out on accident a few years ago. I washed with Garnier the next day and was right back to black. that's actually what made me go to a pro in the first place. I didn't want to bleach anything myself.

Thanks for your help everyone. my hair is naturally dark brown like in my pic. I dyed it dark brown yesterday and there are awful bronzy red reflections in my hair... its really ugly. should I dye again in a few days? I will wash my hair again tonight to see if it changes anything.
