Look up your state laws and make sure it's legal that you can freelance if you don't have a cosmetology or estheticians license.
If your just starting our make sure your kit is in order. Have plenty of disposables, make sure your color items (lipsticks, shadows, foundation, and blushes) can over a global scale or colors aka you can sit anyone in your chair. Always practice being sanitary and properly disinfect and dip into products.
I use Model Mayhem to help build my portfolio so I have some cleaner images.
Figure out what the standard charging rate in your area and base prices off of that, I recommend absolutely no less then 50 though.
