I've been considering bleaching my hair platinum blonde for a while (My hair's naturally auburn) but I keep wondering if it would be inappropriate for work. I currently work in a hospital as a psychologist.

What would you consider professional/ unprofessional when it comes to hair dye?

I love dyed hair I really do but I feel like I'm a bit limited by my job when it comes to dying my hair.

Honestly, dye your hair bright pink if you want! Who cares what people thing, yes maybe it's a little unprofessional but who cares. One of the new teachers at my school this year had bright red hair the entire time and she looked rad! But, to answer your question... No blonde hair is not unprofessional. I think bleached hair is a very beautiful hair color.

I would like to kindly disagree with Talisha to just do whatever you want, personally I would prefer to keep my job rather than get fired over hair color. I don't find platinum blonde to be unprofessional but I suggest talking to your higher up/supervisor about it first.

I don't consider platinum to be out of the norm or unprofessional in any way.

A good rule of thumb if it hasn't been discussed with hr is just look around you... what other hair colors do you see but no blonde and bleached hair should be fine

I don't consider platinum blonde unprofessional at all.

I think as long as it guys within the category of natural hair colors (blondes, Browns, black and reds) then it's fine - I had red highlights and even hot pink peek a boos and never lost a job because of it - as long as it's not a super wild all over rainbow bubblegum color then you should be fine but when in doubt ask HR.

Natural colors are fine, it's when you color your hair unnatural colors that it can be an issue and in some cases people can lose their job if they don't change it

Your company should have some sort of dress code that would have either come with your contract or can maybe be found at a place like the company's intranet and it should contain a section about hair. In general I agree with the girls above though, as long as it's still a hair colour that could occur naturally, it's absolutely fine, so platinum blonde shouldn't be a problem at all. :)

Anything "natural" is professional. Even if you have streaks or highlights or ombre. As long as it's a color that could possibly come out of someone's head it's professional. Most jobs have a dress code that bans unprofessional hair color and that's what they mean. I'd just talk to your boss anyways.

I agree with everyone else here, platinum blonde should be fine! It's a natural color so I don't think it would be a problem. I would check out the companies dress code or talk to hr, just to be on the safe side.

Platinum blonde is not as bright as you think. It certainly is a bold change but its still a natural colour anyways. I say go for it. There's no reason a natural blonde colour would be inappropriate.

One tip though, is to be careful not to tone it too much so it is white but don't not tone it enough so that it looks unnatural and brassy. Keeping a purple shampoo (which you can make) in your shower would be a good idea. Have fun!:)
