Tips on finding a new hairstylist?

How can I find a new hairstylist when you move to a new city. I stay in Northern California, do any of you know or have any tips on finding a new hairstylist? Thank you!

I would ask to see photos of their work - and sometimes if the salon has a website they post them - also I usually look for Paul Mitchell salons since they all train their stylists at their beauty school - and my friend went to a PM school and she did great work so if they trained her well I feel it's safe to assume they train all their associates well - just do some research and read reviews online of the salons you are thinking of going to - and Paul Mitchell has a salon finder on their website too.
