Of course you can dye over them,... But if you just had them done, it's going to be trouble some. You'll need to go to a good hair stylist.
For example, if you have brown hair and blonde highlights. If you try to dye it all brown over the highlights, after a few washes those prices of hair are more than likely going to be a lighter brown than the rest

I would wait a week or two then just dye it as close to your natural color as possible so you don't have to worry when it starts to grow out about damaging it any further:)
