I have been using the Anastasia contouring kits (cream and powder), but I feel like I can never get my cheek bone contour how I want it. The line is either too big or too little, too long or too short. I've tried doing it right under my cheek bone, aiming for the corners of my lips, carving out the apples of my cheeks, but nothing satisfies me. Any suggestions on how to get the perfect contour?

Maybe go to makeup store and find a makeup artist's whose contour you like and ask her to show you. Maybe a MAKEUP FOREVER Store?

If you stand in a light that is in front of/ above your head, at the right angle you should see a shade under your cheek where the contour should go for it to look natural. another method is to sort of pull in your cheeks so you get a fish mouth (I hope this makes sense lol). A slight line under the cheek should now be showing which you contour up until the skin creases from being pulled in. I hope these work for you, they do for me but it might be dependant on face shape and stuff. Also make sure to blend out the contour a lot, it really should just look like a hint of a shade under your cheekbone and not at all like a line.

A picture of how you do it vs a picture of how you want it to look would help us a lot! Thanks Jackie for the idea. :)
Deborah's idea does work but you need to be careful if you do the fishy mouth because you can risk getting your shadow too close to your mouth and then it'll look like a beard. ;D So just stop the "line" very early on and then drag it forward when blending to avoid this problem.
