Hi beauties,
I have dark pigmented lips. Upper lip is much more pigmented than lower one. I have to use a lipstick to hide the pigmentation. I wanna try tinted lip balms and tinted glosses but can't coz of pigmentation. M pregnant and I think that hormones have made them more pigmented. Any natural remedies or any product available to reduce the pigmentation.
Thanks

As far as I know, there isn't anything safe.

You can try a lip scrub - I know my lips appear darker from using too much lipstick and not washing my lips well enough - but then I saw Shelley on here talk about cleaning her lips using almond oil - and she said that it worked well to remove all the gunk from leftover lip products - so you can try that in addition to a sugar/honey lip scrub - using those 100% natural products should be find while you are pregnant - it may not completely solve the problem but it should help for now until your doctor/derm can recommend a better solution

Thanks Diana.. I was thinking of a lip treatment after consulting a derm after my delivery. I do use a sugar honey and olive oil scrub. will substitute olive oil with almond oil. I scrub my lips twice a week. can I do it thrice a week for better results?

I think you can do it more often since lips tend to shed their cells more often than our skin - so I think it's fine but if you notice your lips are dry then don't do it - because the exfoliation can be drying.

I would wait till after you have your baby. Your lips may get light afterwards. I'm sure you have noticed "other" pigmented parts of your body had darkened also. And those will also lighten back, although probably not 100 %..

Yeah Marleen.. I have noticed darker underarms as well.. My doc said that it returns back to normal although it takes a long time.. I had this problem of dark lips before pregnancy just that it has aggravated. Will go to a derm after my delivery.

Try to always wear a lip balm with an spf 30 to help minimize any more darkness and you can also neutralize the darkness with concealer or foundation, then apply an opague, matte "your lips but better" shade of lipstick over it.
