scrubs are the worst for acne, they stimulate the sebaceous glands and in return dry out the skin and then out of no where you are dehydrated but shiny, then you get more acne after a few monthes of continuous use. If you have whiteheads and papules (red bumps) then you need a beta hydroxy acid. Something with benzoyl peroxide, either use as a spot treatment or like an every three day thing because if its a high percent it can be drying. either that or a salicylic. And if yoy wish to take some more steps get a toner to keep bacteria off and a mask once a week, a clay base to draw out excess oils.

First and foremost, you never want to use a scrub on inactive breakout. This will cause spreading of your breakout. You want to use some kind of gel treatment at night. The best that I've used is by Peter Thomas Roth it's an alpha beta hydroxy clearing gel and it works beautifully especially for cystic acne
