Okay I have been letting my grow for a long time now and really need it trimmed. I have straight hair and am not looking for a new style or anything just a trim. I'm also trying to save money so my question is has anyone cut their own hair at home...? I have cut my own bangs but never all my hair! does anyone have an tips or advice?

Sometimes I cut my hair but just 1-2cm and leave same hairstyle. I wet my hair and brush it and make sure every part I took between two fingers is straight and then cut a little (ofcourse following hair style) and when I'm done I put all hair back and then my mom check is everything good, eventualy repear some layers.

I trim my hair myself all the time. You just need someone to check on the results incase you missed anything since we can't see the back of our own heads :)

Just make sure that you use good shears. Even just a pair from Sally's would work :) if you use dull scissors you'll do more harm than good. I have cut my own hair before, only a few inches at a time.
I make sure my hair is clean and straight, then I separate my hair in half and pull it forward. I comb through it and hold it between my index and middle finger, and cut beneath my fingers however much length you want. If you have thick hair, don't cut too much hair at one time or the ends will not come out even. I would not recommend attempting to put layers in your own hair. Leave that to a professional because there is just no way to see what you're doing, and the range of movement is not good. Make sure you keep good posture and your chin up while you're cutting. It's easy to want to look down at what you're doing, but I'd recommend using a mirror for that. If you have any questions let me know! :)

Thank you ladies! I went and bought a good pair of shears from Sally and cut if yesterday! turned out great :)
