I really need some new brushes because my old ones are getting kind of nasty and worn out and I really want a new set of just the essentials. I saw a youtuber use the bh cosmetics brushes so I checked out their website and saw they have brush sets rated high for only around $20-$30! I am really interested in purchasing them and would love to hear your experiences with them.

I know that being only $20-$30, I am probably not going to get some super high end, fancy brushes. I am just looking for some budget friendly, decent brushes that will last me a while! Some important factors for me:

• minimal - no shedding
• soft
• picks up product and applies it nicely

here is the set I was looking at

My first set of make up brushes were by Coastal Scents which uses the same manufacturer as BHCosmetics.
I think they are nice as start out brushes, but the glue doesn't hold very long on the ferrule and some of them are a bit scratchy.

I highly recommend speaking to Jacqueline H. or Alma M. about a good set of starter brushes. Both are professional MUAs and valuable members of the community that can give you true recommendations on brushes and not a YT/IG user who does make up on herself and recommends brushes for compensation ;)

I liked mine. I still use them after 2 years and they haven't gave me any problems. however the blending brushes have gotten scratchy for some reason they never used to be... I would assume most people would call them subpar bht I'm no expert and I think they're alright haha.

Thank you both :) I think I'll ask Jacqueline and Alma what they think, but I'm definitely considering purchasing this set!

Hi Katelyn, I say go for it! They are a nice starter or everyday brushes why not. I have a 10 piece sculpt and blend set I bought at TJ Maxx for $13. To be honest I don't think these or any other brush are scratchy, synthetic brushes are not toss pillows but in no way rough in my opinion just understand what your buying. I think if your looking for nice brushes for yourself go for BH, Sonia Kashuk (love) try out maybe the new elf one's they came out with. I have a set of Borghese suggested by Jackie which I love and guess what they also sell them at Kohls and TJ Maxx for cheap. I Also love Flower cosmetics brush paddle. Sally's beauty supply face secrets are awesome had them for year's. I'm not a fan of real techniques brushes I find them being more of a mop to the face type of brush and fall apart, not my cup of tea but if you choose to use them I would go with the same brush at a cheaper cost and same manufacturer because Eco tools and Studio Tools, Real techniques are the same group and brush. :)
You can get a Mac brush at a low cost and up because they are at a reasonable price love them they are at a lower cost end. Sonia kashuk came out with her goat brushes $15 for one is awesome! So your option's are wider now so don't feel your limited. I'll tell you the best brush advice I got from Jackie that had stuck with me... "Don't ever spend $30 and up on Synthetic Brushes!" :)
Have fun exploring. When your up for the top guns that are worth it and you can afford it in the future I say talk to brush Queen Jackie she'll be ready on that level to give you the key to the info of the mother load lol. :)
