Does anyone know anything (that can be found around the house lol) that REALLY does lighten/brighten the skin tone?
Summer is just around the corner and I really hate wearing foundation etc.in all that heat! :(
Unfortunately I don't suit a tan or even bronzer :( :( So I would like to lighten/brighten up my face DIY at home because I badly want glowing, clearer and healthy complexion naturally- without my usual heavy foundation base
Please share anything you know, I would be greatly relieved to know that there are some REAL DIY tricks that ACTUALLY work...I have read/heard about ALOT of things that people claim that they work but I find all you beauties here a lot more honest and reliable lol
Am willing to try out any suggestions as soon as posted- PLEASE HELP- BEFORE SUMMER ARRIVES :(

What exactly do you mean? Do you want clear glowing skin or do you want to whiten your skin?

If you don't want to have a tan during summer, just use SPF daily especially on your face and neck. This will help protect you from harmful sun rays and you won't tan if you apply liberally.
If you have blemishes that you would like to lighten, a vitamin c type of serum or moisturizer is very good! I use a vitamin c based moisturizer and it makes me face really bright and healthy looking, and I don't use foundation everyday just concealer and a light sweep of bare minerals powder and that's it. The moisturizer I use is 100% pure coffee cherry cream. I use this at night because I use the SPF during the day.
A simple DIY mask I also do to keep my face looking bright is I use a little bit Manuka honey and spot treat my dark areas (blemishes from acne) and rinse twenty minutes after. You can also mix it with your favorite oil like almond or jojoba to make a paste and use all over your face and rinse shortly afterwards.

If you mean any chemical lighteners, I would say don't lighten your skin.

Just be sure to wear a sunscreen that has a mixture of physical and chemical sunscreens and be sure to reapply every two hours. Chemical sunscreens are more lightweight but they don't really prevent skin from getting tan IMO. I find that physical sunscreens that have titanium dioxide of zinc oxide work better but tend to be heavier so a mix of the two should work great.
For brightening your skin you can sun-dry orange peel, grind it up into a powder and mix it with honey, yogurt or both to get a paste and use it as a mask.
Orange peel has a good amount of vitamin C and can help brighten up the complexion.

And for a luminous look I always mist the Mario Bedescu rose water before and after foundation, even after moisturizer.
