Hello all! Ok so I have really really reaaaaallllyyy dry skin and its flakey and I have to exfoliate a ton and moisturize a ton and I mean it totally helps but I'm wondering if any of you with dry skin have any just like overall beauty tips? Like skincare or makeup tips or really anything that you do/know of that is good for someone with dry skin. Thank you! ❤️

Go for oil based products over water based. yogurt and egg white masks a totally great, just mix the two together and leave on for 10 mins. hope this helps, I used to get dry and know how much of a pain it is.

I have suuuper dry skin, and I have a really strict regimen that I follow because I'm also prone to blackheads if I don't.
I only wash my face at night, unless I go to the gym in the morning.
I use whatever cleanser I happen to have (at the moment that's the Soap and Glory Face Soap and Clarity, which doesn't actually contain soap because soap can be a little bit stripping on already dry skin), and my Clarisonic. I'd be absolutely lost without my Clarisonic. Given my propensity for blackheads, the sonic vibrations really help keep my skin clear and even.
After that, I use the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads, just as an extra level of gentle exfoliation. I use the original, but they also come in sensitive or extra strength. Personally, I find the original works fine for me and leaves my skin really smooth. Occasionally I skip a day of these if I feel like they would be too much for my skin at the moment.
After that, I use two serums. I use the Shiseido Whitelucent Serum to prevent dark spots since they occasionally crop up somewhere if I've extracted a blackhead myself. It's working well so far, but I don't know if I'd buy it again when I finally use it up. The second serum I use is one that I refuse to live without, and it is the iS Clinical Pro-Heal serum. This stuff...It contains vitamin A, vitamin E and ascorbic acid, which work together to reduce free radical and sun damage to your skin, as well as reversing any damage that may already be there.
After that, I use eye cream (I'm not picky about which, at the moment it's the 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine eye cream, which smells great but I feel decidedly meh about)
and then I follow with a moisturizer. I absolutely loathe putting oils on my face, they tend to make me get a zit or two, and I also don't like the way they feel. So instead, I use heavy moisturizers. At the moment this is the Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins, which smells like creamsicles and keeps my skin super hydrated and glowy. I also really adore the Korres Wild Rose and Vitamin C Advanced Sleeping Facial, which also smells nice but is incredibly hydrating and evens out your complexion while you sleep.
If I'm feeling super dry (like in the winter or if the humidity level drops really dramatically), my skin will start flaking and to prevent that I do one of two things: I either follow my moisturizer with the Yube cream (which is available at Sephora) as an occlusive agent which will just seal in the moisture, or I will skip my night cream altogether and use the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Overnight Mask, which works like a cream, sort of, but it's even more moisturizing. I tried to use the GlamGlow ThirstyMud, but it doesn't sink in overnight, so I wound up rinsing it off because I tend to migrate onto my stomach in the middle of the night. Anyway, the First Aid Beauty mask is a bit more heavy duty than a normal moisturizer, so I reserve it for crazy dry times.
I also am addicted to lip balm. My all time favorite is the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm, which uses beeswax instead of petrolatum as a base so it's really smooth and feels matte, rather than feeling like it may slide off my lips as some petrolatum based products do. I also really enjoy the Fresh Lip Treatments, they feel really slippery but I find that I don't mind them as much if I use them at night. I also keep the Serum version in my car, since it can't melt in the Miami heat, and then I follow that with the Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment to seal it in, since the Lucas' Paw Paw ointment is basically glorified petrolatum. It's different when you're using it to seal as opposed to when it's actually in a product. Personally, I feel like when petrolatum is the base for a product, it prevents the moisturizing ingredients from getting into my lips, whereas if I use it after a moisturizing product, I feel like it seals the moisture in, instead of out.
I also, every week or so, exfoliate with a chemical exfoliator like the ExfoliKate treatment from Kate Somerville. I cannot get enough of the way my skin feels after I use it. It feels so smooth, so renewed, so clog-free and clear, it's amazing. I follow that up with just a moisturizer, since it's a pretty strong exfoliant on its own.
I hope this was helpful, please feel free to ask me if you have any other questions about products or my personal experiences or anything at all!

My skin tends to get dry during the winter and my savior is Vit E oil applied after my Monsia day moisturizer with SPF15 and at bedtime after my night repair cream. The vit E oil seems to seal in the moisture. You can use foundation and makeup as well.
