This bar of soap is making me break out so bad 😫 my acne is just getting worse

What kind of black soap Is it? Is it raw black soap that comes in a brownish, lighter shade of color, or is it more on the dark side, like black?

I'm not sure, it might be purging. I heard the darker the colour the stronger it is. It may have too much of the plantain in it. I've seen ones with lots of cocoa butter and shea butter mixed into the soaps that might help the irritation factor:/ So sorry to hear that the soap isnt agreeing with your skin!

Hm. Well like Bri-bri L mentioned, it might be purging but in experience, the Shea Moisture Black Soap from Target really did nothing for my skin. I believe I do recall breaking out, and that's all it did for me. So I'd recommend purchasing the Raw African Black Soap. The real deal isn't 'black' in color. It's more of a gold/brown tone.

The only thing that causes skin to 'purge' are Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids.. basically any chemical exfoliant due to the rapid cell turn over rate.
Bar of soap doesn't cause cell turn over and quite frankly the ingredients used in bar soaps to keep them in their bar form are highly comedogenic and dry out the skin fairly easily.
African Black Soap for acne is based solely on pseudoscience from what I've seen, no solid established studies and from the time I've been on BL plenty of 'African Black Soap makes me break out' is a pretty common thing. I would reserve a harsh soap like that for the skin on my body, face is far too delicate for it =\

Yeah stay away from that Black soap if you have sensitive skin that stuff will dry you out and cause breakouts like crazy!

^ Agreed, I know that they usually can cause breakouts on sensitive skin!
