I found on Pinterest a different way to clean your make up brushes that I thought was interesting. You use extra virgin olive oil and dish washing liquid.

I tried it and I love it! Made my brushes look and feel like new!

I just use hand soap and water then after I put super skinny serum from Paul Mitchell on them cuz it helps to keep them nice and soft :)

How much olive oil are you supposed to use? And how often do you clean them?

The size of a quarter and like two times that with the dish liquid. And I try to clean them once a week.

I use baby shampoo on mine. I heard of the virgin olive oil and dish washing soap method a few months ago right here on Beautylish....it received mixed reviews....a few horror stories and some great outcomes.

DISH SOAP!! It cleans out every bit of the make-up deep into your brushes. Hand soap? Naw it doesn't deep clean the brush.

I use Dr. Bronners Tea Tree castile soap for deep cleaning. For spot cleaning I just use the Sephora Daily Brush Cleaner

Depends. I use 99% rubbing alcohol and a little dish and for deep cleans I use dawn and olive oil. Works just as well as the brand name makeup brush cleaners.

And I've had a few of my MAC brushes since 16 and I'm now 29. They still look great.

I use Mac brush cleanser for quick cleanings in between and dr. Bronners' soap in lavender. It deep cleans and makes my white brushes super white again! Even gets rid of those tough stains that bright eyeshadows can leave on your brushes.

Tiara, thank you for the helpful tip. Can't wait to try this.

I use baby shampoo in tepid water. Never ever soak your brushes for over 30 seconds. It ruins them.
