I always like to hear people tell their stories on what sparked their interest in makeup. I used to wear lip smackers when I was little, and it sort of turned into an obsession! When I got older I started experimenting with glitter and frosty pink lipstick, and I also had the black lipstick and thick black liner phase! I still like to experiment with my look now and then, but it is generally the same now.
I would say what made me most interested in makeup was lip balm and glitter. Watching my mom do her makeup also really wanted to make me try it myself.
Tell your stories!

The same as Vicky!! YouTube videos made me want to try new products. Before watching YouTube videos I had 1 of each- foundation, concealer, blush, eyeshadow quad, mascara, lipstick and lip liner. Now I have Too much lol

Mine wasn't watching anyone else. I found myself single for the first time in my adult life, and realized I needed to step it up. My boyfriend now loves when I don't have makeup, but he does still love when I pretty myself up, so I do it for him, and myself.

My mum always liked make up so it was always there but I never really wore much and I think I really got into it when I was about 18. A girl I knew was crazy into make up, like I am now I guess, and I loved how she looked and how she did her eyes. I ended up watching some youtube tutorials from one woman (I can't remember her name but she must have been one of the first) and I fell in love with make up! I went to MAC and got some products and then I got my first Urban Decay Palette (the Ammo palette).

That's so cute, Mandi! There are a lot of older celebrities that were so beautiful when they were younger and a lot of younger people now don't realise. I always like to see what they looked like when they were younger although it also makes me a little depressed because I don't want to get older myself haha.

I always wanted makeup because I was never allowed to have it! Something about the whole forbidden fruit thing... Lol. I would buy makeup after I got my first job and was allowed to buy things with my own money, but my makeup interest really took off when I stated watching tutorials on YouTube and I would try to follow the videos and then would try to put my own spin on the looks.

My mom would always wear makeup and refused to go outside without it. I would watch her put it on and was amused by it. When I got older and wanted to try it, she told me I looked fine without it but I bought some stuff anyway with my allowance. I had an idea of what I was doing but not really... When youtube came about and makeup vids were getting popular, it inspired me to want to learn and know more.

I cant remember not liking makeup, i think just being a girl, people bought me barbies, and one of those heads to practice hair on. I can remember being as young as ten collecting lipglosses, but i had toy makeup before that. My mum never wore a lot of makeup, and its me that got her in to it, im self taught, iv only seen a handful of youtube videos if i want a certain technique. I dont remember ever seeing a woman and thinking 'i want to be like her' i never looked at pictures to copy, i just bought makeup, sat in a mirror and figured it out.

Getting over my stupid idea that I couldn't be a feminist and like make-up. Deciding that I wanted to "invest in me" and look more polished. Realizing that I could wear make up not because I had to, but because I want to and was not conforming a societal ideal of what womanhood should be.

I've always loved makeup it started when I would watch my mother put on eye shadows and have different designed looks on her lids mind you it was the 80's lol but then I really like out makeup changed every ones look then in the 90's I was obsessed with the super model era Cindy Crawford, Linda evangelista,Naomi Campbell,Claudia and so on and I just loved to try to achieve the looks from magazines, and begged for cosmetic from my mother all the time.

Veganbeauty, I love that answer. I had issues with wanting to deny my desire for makeup because I never wanted to be "one of those girls". Now I realize how judgmental I was and that having a nice-looking exterior doesn't have to be separate from having a kick-ass interior.

I have always had an appreciation for makeup even though I never wore it until I was almost 18. I remember when I was in like second or third grade, and I would always get ready for school quickly so I could sit in my Mom's bed to watch her do her makeup and her hair at her vanity table. I always thought she was the most glamorous and beautiful person in the whole world and if I could learn anything from her, I wanted to (What's that creamy green stuff for?).
I got older and got put on Differin when I was like 17, and when my skin was almost perfectly clear with some minor reddish scars, I went snooping through her makeup to find something I could cover the little scars with that would look natural. My Mom buys A LOT of makeup, and I mean a LOT. She'll buy like 3 or 4 concealers instead of just 1, and 2 or 3 foundations or powders instead of just 1. Anyway, in her "storage drawer" I found a new clinique concealer in a color I knew was too light for her, and I asked her if she could help me apply it and she did. I also went and got my own mattifying powder when it got warmer out a few months later. And now, here I am with loads of ridiculous stuff hahaha = P

What made me interested in makeup was all the different looks you can do with the power of makeup and just being able to have fun with it !:) watching YouTube videos also got me more into it because I learned so many tips but what mainly got me interested was lipgloss and watching my mom doing her makeup every morning (:

Watching my mother put on her "face" as she called it. I have always been a girls girl and proud of it. Everybody has an idea of how they look best and mine is with my "face" painted as my mama would say!

My best friend got me into it. I wasn't allowed to wear makeup until I was 16 and my best friend got into makeup at around 15 so for a year she talked about it a lot and I really didn't understand why she was so crazy about it. But once I turned 16 she bought me a 88 palette and I was hooked! It's art and I love it.
