What does bleaching do to your hair?

If u talk about facial hairs, bleach makes the hairs just like ur face complexion so that they r not visible easily.

I meant the hair on your head, I dyed my hair to red and want to go back to blonde :D

Your hair will get really dry and brutal if u do it within days of dying ur hair but I recommend just using blonde hair dye and gradually going back to blonde that way.. The bleach will strip ur hair make it very dry

Because I have this really good box of blonde dye ( superior preference ultra blond) and it shows on the back that It dyes dark brown hair to a light blonde, I just don't want it to go a light orange :(

U will go a bit orangey it might take a couple of goes to get it to the blonde u want it to b but b careful bleach will really damage your hair and u might find your scalp might blister a bit if u do bleach it and your not happy with the colour leave your hair for at least a week to let it recover a bit and use plenty of deep conditioner

Don't bleach. Trust me it's not worth it. It damages your hair to a point of no return. Don't risk it. Just use a clarifying shampoo or dandruff shampoo that will help strip the color and make it lighter, then once it's light enough try gradually adding/coloring your hair blonde. I have black hair right now. I know my hair in the photo is green but I actually bleached my hair so much that it wouldn't hold color very well. I also had to cut some of my hair. Anyway, I'm gradually lightening my hair with the certain shampoos and adding brown, I want to try and match my natural hair color, and grow out my hair. Hope this helps!

And even if you have the right conditioners and treatments, it still won't fix/restore your hair completely after a bleach. So take my work. I've been bleaching and coloring my hair for years, and I've done my experiments and research.

You can bleach it and after acouple times it will go to the colour you desire.. But it kills your hair, you will have to keep doing hair treatments to get it not 'dead looking'

Bleaching is not good for ur hair health ... It will eventually effect your hairs...... N if u want to bleach them ask a hair expert about how u can keep hairs healthy :)

Ive bleached my hair plenty of times.. My hair has been orange before from doing it.. It's also been yellow.. But bleaching your hair kills your hair terribly.. I stopped bleaching bc a week after bleaching I was cutting off dead ends and sometimes it can make your hair very dry.. I've used the box dye you are talking about.. And it left yellow streaks in my hair. I would recommend bleaching your hair at a salon.. Bc I am pretty positive your hair will be orange before it is blonde

Go to a salon. Do not do this on your own. Going dark is easy, lighter is easy to screw up.

I will put my 2 cents in again. Listen, you can remove a lot of the red pigment by using a sulfur based color remover like Color Oops (I use the extra conditioning, not the extra strength variety). Will it damage your hair? Yes. As much as bleach? No. The color remover basically reverses the oxidization process and takes out the artificial pigment. It will not remove your own natural pigment. If it comes out yellowish or orange, that's because your hair has been previously lifted.
The box dye you have is a lifting dye. Once you've removed the artificial red, it will lift the color that you have underneath, but depending on what that color is, it may not turn out the same way it is on the box. You may (and will probably have to) tone it to remove unwanted yellow/orange tones. Basically the only way to do that is to add in an ash color (something that is labeled cool, or if your orange/gold tones aren't very drastic, "natural" might do the trick). Read the instructions on the box of the color remover. Your hair will be more porous and you do NOT want to end up with hot roots or white tips, so it's likely that you'll have to be very careful about how you apply the dye, to what parts of your hair, and how long you leave it in for to get a good color result.
Does that sound like a pain in the butt? That's because it is. A salon will not do this in an effort to spare your hair. They will bleach it, then bleach it again, and possibly a third time unless you run out of money or patience. If I were you, I'd spare my hair and tone out the red with an ammonia-free ash brown/ash blonde once or twice before so much of thinking of attempting to go blonde-blonde. It is much easier and safer for your hair to add pigment than it is to try and take it out.

*oh yeah, you do want a good protein conditioner after your remove the color. Like I said...your hair will be more porous and the protein will at least temporarily restructure your hair a little, like putting spackle over a nail hole.

You are definitely going to need a toner. red is a bitch to get out of your hair.
