Hi,
I am a newbie, having only been at this game for less than 18mnts. I would really love to be learning FAX makeup, like moulding, casting, airbrushing etc.. The problem is that the only college to do that in Ireland is a two hour train journey each morning and each night. I am almost 32, and I have some health issues. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2008, and underwent a radical hysterectomy followed by 7 weeks chemo and radio. I was given the clear from that and was tipping merrily along then six months later was told it was back and that was it, I was dying.
I went through chemo, and against all the odds I am still here.
However the treatment I had has had a severe impact on my nerves and bones in my hips and legs. While I am quite mobile now (thank you oxycontin!), I do still suffer from pain and at times fatigue.
I am married with 2 wonderful kids, and its all even tougher because my man gave up work to care for me. So on top of everything else we are broke!
So its because of all this that I don't think I could manage a full time course. If I can afford it or get sponsored/scholarship to a part time course or two, do you, as professionals, think that's acceptable? Or do you think its possible for an FX company would take me on as an apprentice?
Do you think my health would turn them off investing in me? I am very mobile, but it can strike at times.
Sorry about the short novel, I have myself in a hoop with all this!!

I don't have much advice for you but still I read your story and just wanted to say it was touching, and you're an incredibly strong woman, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer was devastating enough for me I couldn't imagine what you went through! But I think it's worth a shot trying. If anyone knows how fragile life is and knows not to take advantage of it it's you. Go for it! The worst they can say is no but you'll never have to wonder "what if" much love
