Everyone says it's bad to brush your hair when it's wet, but what if you have curly hair? I have curly hair and I have to brush my hair in the shower I If don't it impossible to untangle plus it will get so poofy it won't fit through the door lol. So what are you supposed to do if you have curly hair?

I'd never brush my hair wet.

Brushing your hair while wet causes breakage and damages your hair. Use a wide tooth comb instead.

I know that curly hair needs other care then straight - So if brushing you hair in the showers is what works best for you then thats what you should do!
What I would do is brush it as much as possible before the shower and in the shower I would apply a really good conditioner and use a wide tooth comb or a wet brush :)

I think that you mean combing, like you can untangle it with a wide toothed comb but you shouldn't use a brush. I do that too so it's fine :)

I have wavy/curly hair and I can only brush my hair when wet. I can't imagine the damage it would cause if I tried to brush it dry.

Straight hair you shouldn't brush while its soaked because it sticks together in different ways then curly hair

The wet brush is a real life saver! cost me about 10$ on ebay and I really don't notice any damage to my hair even if I brush while it's soaking wet.

I would suggest getting a brush made for when your hair is wet. I got one made by Revive Beauty at Marshal's for some price below $10.00. I'd suggest getting it because it works for me. The only thing I can say is that I don't have curly hair so I can't advise you too much on what brushes are good for that type of hair. I hope this was helpful anyway. You can also buy one online at Ulta for $9.99. I'll attach a photo if how it looks.

Brushing wet

Wet hair is only 1/3 as strong as dry hair because water weakens the bonds in your strands. When your hair is weakened, it’s more prone to breakage. Brushing is one of the roughest actions you can do to your hair, especially if it is long and tangles. Brushing wet hair will lead to significantly more broken strands than if you allowed the hair to dry before brushing it. If you absolutely can’t wait to brush your hair, use an absorbent towel to remove as much moisture as possible before proceeding. Even allowing your hair to air dry for just 5 or 10 minutes will help reduce damage. As your hair dries, weak bonds are re-established, with your hair gaining strength rapidly. Allowing these bonds to form before brushing the hair is key in preventing breakage. If you have thin hair, you need to be especially cautious. Thin hair can be damaged easier than thicker hair because each strand is made of less polypeptides with less bonds. Less bonds means weaker hair. Having less bonds total also means that a greater percentage of the bonds will be broken when the hair is wet, leading to even more damage if you brush it. Fortunately, thin hair dries faster than thick hair, so the amount of time you must wait before brushing it is lessened. Towel drying thin hair is also more effective, helping to reduce the need for a hair dryer, which can also cause damage. If you really can’t wait to brush your hair, you should use a wide-toothed comb. This will cause less damage than a regular brush, though some breakage is inevitable. If your hair is curly, you will need an even wider comb. Think about your most recent trip to the hair salon. Odds are that your stylist used a comb when hair was wet. If your hair is prone to tangles, you should always brush or comb it from the bottom to the top. This avoid tangles, which can cause additional damage. The safest way to approach brushing your hair is to wait until it’s dry and then use a high-quality bristle brush, beginning at the bottom and working your way up until all of your hair is brushed to your satisfaction.

I have curly hair as well and it does not damage my hair when I brush it in the shower.

As a curly girl myself Brittany is spot on with her deets. Curly hair is far more fragile than straight hair, wavy hair. My hair hasn't seen a brush in over 10 years...if not longer. I always detangle my hair in sections with a deep conditioner and wide-tooth comb made exclusively for curly hair. And I never use a comb on dry hair either. When I used to use a brush that advertised safe to use on wet hair I found that if often didn't last but a month because it would eventually start breaking (teeth going first followed by the rubber piece getting gross due to product and separating from the brush handle itself). Sticking to the comb and using only when my hair is wet and with a conditioner with easy slip my hair stretched now goes past my butt because less tension is being placed upon my mane.

If you're going to brush your hair when it's wet make sure you use a wide tooth comb or one of the tease tangle brushes from sephora
