Hi Lift dyed hair?

Hi!
I know you can't lift dye with dye...But I've read conflicting stories about using hi lift blonde...
I have DYED medium brown hair, with a little bit of red.

If I used a hi lift blonde on it, would it lighten it?

If yes, please recommend a sally's ION color. (That's all I have access to right now).

Personally, I wouldn't even try. It might not work at all or make your hair some strange color. From what I've been reading, high lift dyes work best on virgin hair, not dyed hair, so you'd need to get your current color stripped if you want to go lighter.

I use hi lift day all the time on my hair and it's certainly not virgin, but it's also not blond so I can't recommend a color. I have used the Ion hi lift dyes, they work well, but I do recommend going with one level lower of developer then they recommend. so if it says 30 use 20, if it says 40 use 30. Happy hair dyeing. I'm sure it'll turn out beautiful.

I did it to get a more golden blonde cause my hair was like light brown or honey and I wanted more gold shine and wnd up with the color I wanted. here's my color now not orange and not blond just like gold.. but you have to be carefull always cause you might end up with a very orange color

And I don't have virgin hair at all and use it all the time when I want a golden effect only.
