I feel so dumb for asking this. I am not dying my hair with lemon. My sister wants too and she has blonde hair like me. Will the lemon make her hair orange or is the orange effect only from black hair? Plus how long do you have to stay in the sun for it to take affect?

Orange only happens for darker hair. I mixed lemon juice with conditioner (so it won't dry out your hair) and it made my hair lighter. It's more like highlights though

I have tried it as well. My hair is a darker golden blonde, and it almost appears to be a "dirty blonde". Using lemon juice can take a while to even be noticeable, and It won't make your hair orange. Plus, it really only works if you do it in the sun. It doesn't dry your hair out, but it's sticky and annoying to keep up with. You really should be in the sun at least 30 minutes to an hour every day. As I said, you will not notice anything for at least a month, and even then it won't be very noticeable. I haven't tried this; but I heard the Chamomile tea lightening treatment works more effectively. Possibly look into that more? But if you are looking for immediate results, I suggest getting a balayage.
