When I put concealer or highlighter under my eyes it always make me look worse if that make sense people comment that I look tired I've watched a tone of youtube videos and even bought the sane products used in them but it still looks the dane even if I wear it both over or under my foundation does anybody have this or know why I need to put something there other wise they can look a little dark.

Is it because you have dark circles? or what is it that makes you look tired?

If it's just the dark circles, maybe try putting on some light eyeshadow. works quite well for me. :)

It kinda sounds like you need a color corrector. Use a yellow color corrector if your circles are purple or a peach/salmon color corrector if your circles are blue. Follow with your skin tone concealer.

So your message is slightly confusing. But I'm hoping I understood it enough to help ya as best as I can.
If you have dark circles, this may sound silly, but you'll need to determine what color they are, but if your dark circles are more purple, you'll need a yellow colored eye concealer, it will help brighten the area while providing you with coverage. And you can always build to your desired coverage.
If your dark circles are more black and blue, you'll need a peach colored concealer to which it'll do the same as a yellow based concealer.
Not sure what you're looking to buy price wise, but you've got your best of both worlds. I looove NYX concealers, they're inexpensive and are just amazing products (imo) and have every color imaginable! And the last time I purchased them they were under 10$!
If you're looking for a high end product, I love Benefits Erase Paste.
I would suggest going into like an Ulta or a cosmetics department store and having a representative test some of their concealers out on you to see if you would prefer those.
I hope this helps you, but if not, by all means, go to a counter and just have them recommend something. but don't feel pressured into purchasing from them per se, if they recommend a yellow tone or peach tone, you now know what color you need if you're looking for a cheaper route. Not to mention, most counters will offer a sample too.
Good luck!!

I seem to be able to cover the darkness but the to highlite for my contour it washes me out under the eyes if that makes sense.

If it washes you out then the color is probably too light for you.

Are you applying it on lightly? If you add to much of a concealer it can bring forward the under eye discolouration out more. Color corrector is key then let it set only apply from corner of eye to mid eye and softly blend out with a brush. Then pat on regular concealer lightly.
