How to make an up do last all day?

I always see pictures with hair in an up do, and I love all the types and styles. But when I put my hair in an up do the first half of the day it looks nice, and then around mid day my hair is frizzy and falling out and looks horrible. How do you keep your up do slick, sleek, shiny, and not fall out?

Agree with Shreya- you need both. I have very frizz prone hair and gel is the ONLY thing that will take it. You can use it on dry hair too. Then if you see some hairs misbehaving during the day, carry a small bottle of hair spray and some bobby pins and fix it up!
