How exactly do I prevent this?
I am going to use a box dye this time around since it is a natural color. I'm specifically using Garnier Olia.
Please help me with the steps needed to ensure that my head doesn't end up looking like a big booger! lol
You may suggest anything you feel is necessary for me not to end up looking like the hulk. Thanks! :3

Get a dye that has the word ash in it, it'll prevent the green tint from happening.

Thank goodness for this option! Aha
Thnaks!
So should I purchase both a red-brown tone dye and my desired dye choice and first dye my hair it with the red toned dye and wait some hours then dye it with the brown based dye? :3

It depends on how light your hair is and how dark you want your hair to be.
If you're going one to two shades darker you should be fine.
If you're going darker than you're going to need a filler color.
A filler color is used because if your hair is light and you color it too dark it causes an unwanted tone.
A filler color can be used with a temporary color or kind of hair color really.
Let's say you're a level 10 and you want to go to a level 5. Get a color that's a level 7 or 8 and then go darker.
Keep in mind the tone of your hair now and the tone you're going.
It's best if your hair is neutral since it won't alter the tone of the color you're going at all.
But say your hair is really cool toned an you're trying to go a light caramel brown.
The slight blue tones can neutralize the slight caramel leaving you with a neutral light brown
