I use to use it, when I box dyed my hair. Because especially with black sometimes the conditioner has some pigment in it. My sister used to do the blue black all the time, and the conditioner added like an almost sparkly black into it.

With Schwarzkopf, I do, every time, as well as garnier nutrisse and clairol nice and easy. Any other dye, I toss it.

I feel like some aren't good at all. Like I've used them before, yea, but depending on how they left my hair feeling when I did use them, crappy, I now toss, such as revlon colorsilk.

That's okay lol. And I have no idea anymore, I think it was the feria shimmer or something like that. It was a long time ago lol. I know it was feria, or however it's spelled. They had such a beautiful blue black. It might have just been that brand. I know when I was in middle school I dyed my hair red/purple with box dyes and the conditioner usually had a bit of shimmery red or magenta pigment in it. That was almost 6 years ago though lol.
They aren't bad conditioners, so I never toss them and for travel that'd be great but I personally don't use box dyes in my household, we go to sally and buy dye and developer. But I never was disappointed with the conditioners being drying or anything

Box dyes are very trying to be "one size fits all" and with dyes at sally, if you're going just a shake darker/lighter than you don't need a high developer. You'd need a 20, and a lot of box dyes use 40 volume developer. I've noticed my mom and my sister's hair are much much healthier now than when using box dyes. You definitely notice the difference, and it's not much more expensive. You can buy a 30 Oz bottle of 20 vol developer for like 8$ and most dyes are a 1:1 ratio, and usually it's 2 Oz of dye, so if you need two boxes like my mom does, its just 4 Oz of developer and so the big bottle lasts forever. And the dyes are like 5-7$ a box here.
But with the shimmering thing it's a good idea, I actually like to buy body shimmer (I discovered the body shops when my dad's gf worked there and she gave me free products - it was weird, its like pure shimmering powder lol) and I put some in my hair oil now, or spritz some in my hair. I find its a unique way to make your hair more stylish. Like I love doing pretty Mermaid waves (helps with the colored hair but I bet it looks super cute on other colors) and with the shimmer in the lighting it just looks super magical lol.

I use revlon colorsilk and I use it just because I like how soft it makes my hair after and kind of makes the dye smell go away even though the colorsilk doesn't have amonia it still has a dye smell and I like to use the conditioner it comes with but usually it isnt nearly enough for my whole head even though I use 2-3 boxes every time I Still add my own conditioner to cover my whole head.

Lol I understand it's confusing at first! But people at Sally's are usually very helpful!
But yeah you should definitely go get them at the body shop. There's pink and gold and I think a silver. But I have the pink one, it really just shimmers and not really pinkish lol. It looks like this, but it's PURE shimmer. Like at Christmas I applied it next to my bed, and I'm pretty sure my bedspread, even after washing it several times, still have some shimmer bits lol. But it looks so pretty and vintage and obviously not my picture but look at it! Haha

Lol I have to use 2-3 boxes too Brianna. It's ridiculous. That's why I usually ends up getting revlon cause it's cheaper.

Lol yeah! It's so pretty hey? I love it. I think there's a body shop most places! I live in Canada and there's literally one every city. There's 4 in my city lol.

I haven't box dyes my hair in a long time, but I always needed 2-4 boxes since my hair is suuuuper thick. But if you're just using it for roots, then don't bother getting more than one box.

Shanae thats exactly why I get revlon! ha ha I hate how small the packs are too but I just like how well they detangle my hair lol I live and sleep with my hair up so when its time to shower especially if I'm going to dye it (ill go a day longer without washing) its a huge mess of knotts lol it would be extremely easy for me to get dreads! haha

Lmao I feel you on that! I used nice and easy dye today and it was amazing. I definitely recommend you check it out! It detangled my hair and comes with a buttload of amazing conditioner. Only thing is I teared up from the smell of the dye. It was so strong.

I love those little conditioners, I find often they're better than regular conditioner and I always keep them for travel or treatments.

I love using them after dying but sometimes I forget to bring them with me in the shower 😭😭😭 I buy them individually at Sally's though all the time for when my hairs looking dull

I don't know how it works honestly but they're meant to help with the dullness you are usually left with after using developer on your hair! And I definitely find they're better than normal conditioners.

Yeah Brittany is right, and she lives in Canada so I'm guessing she probably has some with the pigment to help refresh the hair color. I think that'd be why they say to use it weeks later.

Oh and this was the blue back my sister used, it's starry night.
She just got home so I asked lol. Figured I'd let you know :) and the conditioner had blue and black pigment in it

I do the exact same as Brittany, the conditioners that come with the dye are exceptionally hydrating :)

Megan, buy a 10 volume developer instead 20. You're only depositing color so you need to get 10. Also, I love to use one and only argan black hair dye at Sally's or ion the ammonia free one which is new.

If they're pigmented they will state so! Check either the tube or the box :) I used to use a red colour depositing conditioner on my red hair too, though it's not really a drastic pigment it just returns the shine that comes with Fresh colour.

Yeah! I had black underneath as a peek a boo a long time ago, used a box dye, and the conditioner was black. I had to be careful not to use it since the top was red lol. I'm sure it's not very pigmented, but enough to ruin a blonde or just like a gloss rinse kind of thing. But yeah the tubes or box will definitely say so
