I place the lighter colour on my cheek bone itself. So if you take your fingers, you can feel along where your cheek bone goes. Then put a slightly darker colour than your skin, underneath the highlight. A lot of people suck in their cheeks and make a fish face when applying the bronzer or darker colour, but I smile as I feel like the end results turn out nicer, especially when smiling. Also, because everyone's face shape is different like Megan mentioned, when you're done that, look at the results, and you can fix it up from their, because it's easier to start with a base!

Shanae's picture would not work for every face shape and I personally wouldn't highlight there even for that face shape. You want to highlight on areas of the face you want to bring forward and bring attention to. For cheekbones, you USUALLY just want to apply it on the top of your cheekbones and don't bring it all the way in.
