MOTD + Frustration

Today I tried out some of my Sephora samples and purchases. Rage ensued. I was so frustrated that I was close to tears and almost gave up on makeup completely.

What caused all the trouble?

Tarte Tarteist Clay Paint Liner. I used every type of liner brush I had, including the brush that came with the liner, and nothing was working. It wasn't coming out opaque and it was smearing and transferring all over my eyelids. I complete gave up, removed it all, and didn't try again.

I am so frustrated but the rest of my makeup looks fine, so that's a plus.

Products Used:

Face:
-NYX Photo Loving Primer
-NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Vallauris (dotted all over face and blended into face, neck, and chest with RT Expert Face Brush)
-MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20 (applied with RT Deluxe Crease Brush under eyes, center of forehead, down the nose, Cupid's bow, and chin and blended with RT Miracle Complexion Sponge)
-MAC Blot Powder in Light (applied over concealer to set with RT Setting Brush)
-NYX HD Blush in Taupe (contoured with RT Contour Brush under cheekbones, chin, and jawline and sides of nose with MAC 217)
-MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul (applied to cheeks with ELF Essential Bronzing Brush)
-NYX Illuminator in Ritualistic (applied and blended with RT Fan Brush on top of cheekbones, down the nose, and Cupid's bow)
-Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Brows:
-IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil (lightly filled in brows)

Eyes:
-Smashbox 24 Hour Eye Primer (blended from lash line to brow with finger)
-MAC Blot Powder in Light (applied from lash line to brow with RT Setting Brush)
-Cattiva Waterproof Retractable Eyeliner in Black (waterline and tight light)
-Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes (one coat on bottom, two coats on top)

Lips:
-NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella (applied from tube as a lip liner)
-MAC Viva Glam 1 (applied from tube all over lips)

Love the lip! I think your bottom liner is a bit too dark to go with your top liner-both look great, but like the belong to different looks

Alexis, it's normal to get frustrated you just have to rethink the look and just have fun with it. The more frustrated you get the more mistakes are made but you'll get the hang of it. I will be honest you did ok but would suggest removing the color around your nose it's heavy and gives a bruised effect and the lighter shade on the nose is very forward making a triangle shape that pops to much. You have a cute nose try to ease up application there. :)

Elizabeth, I don't have liner on my lash line, I only tight lined and that's how I like to do it.

Alma, my nose does not look like that IRL. I don't know why it looks so harsh in pictures.

I was disappointed by that liner as well, it was so smudgy :/ I use it for smokey eyes now LOL! I really like the Bobbi brown gel liners though, I have it in black and brown and they both are very rich

Brittany, I'm very disappointed. I have hooded eyes so I don't wear liner because it just transfers onto the hood of my eye. The Tarte liner was so promising to not transfer but it did anyways. I think I'm just going to quit looking for liners.

I know I hate when people rave about something and it doesn't work out for me :( it makes me feel like I'm missing out! But I did recently find a liner you may like, it is a felt tip liquid liner pen by Mirabella called the magic marker, I just recently started using it and love it. It's incredibly black and it dries instantly, it honestly reminds me of putting sharpie or something on my eyelids which is kinda nice cause you know it won't budge! Lol
