Well... Always keep your chin up to avoid double chin, definitely smile or create a mood using your facial expression, focus more on the features you like. Keep your body language easy and place a hand on your hip, turn a bit etc. Definetly think of your surroundings/ background. You can also add effects to jazz pictures up :)) Hope I helped.

Greaf advice Asi also lighting is very important i find my bathroom the best place & i also hold the camera above my head a little and look up directly into the lens not looking at urself thru the bathroom mirror

Natural lighting is the best lighting you can have for taking photos. I take ALL of my photos sitting next to/in front of my window that lets in the most sun. You won't have to worry about over-editing/color correcting that way. Also if you're taking a close up of your eye makeup or something, make sure you're using the macro setting, so your camera focuses. It's usually represented by a little flower icon.
